DAVE
SPIKEY

Dave Spikey
Comedian,Actor,Writer,Presenter
Available for
corporate entertainments, personal appearances, dinners and cabaret.
A brilliant stand-up and actor, Dave Spikey’s career began in 1992 after many years writing routines and sketches for other
comedians, TV and radio.
He was 50% of the legendary double act ‘Spikey and Sykey’ who’s most notable success was on Central TV’s ‘New Faces’ show where they finished a close third to a Todmorden whippet juggler and a Latvian plumber who played ‘I’ve got sixpence, jolly jolly sixpence’ on a radiator .After reaching this zenith of achievement ,S & S’s career inevitably plummeted and they split up in Scarborough soon afterwards over an argument concerning
fish**.
Since that fateful day, Dave has spent the intervening years developing a variety of top class sets to cater for every audience
Dave has a distinctive style and approach to comedy - The “Guardian” described him as,
“..a comic who walks a tightrope between the comedy of the everyday and the surreal,
pausing occasionally to place a foot down firmly on either side.” and indeed Dave is one of the very few comedians who works with great success in both the Alternative & Mainstream arenas .
He is one of the top acts on the national comedy circuit and regularly headlines at the Comedy Store , Jongleurs
and all the country’s top venues.
He appeared on Marlboro’s “Lighten-up” tour and Merrydown Cider's Alternative Cabaret Roadshow.
Internationally ,he has recently returned from a second highly acclaimed sell out week in Hong Kong.
Dave has many TV appearances to his name as stand-up comedian , game show presenter – hosted ITV’s popular game show “Chain Letters” - and Actor.
He plays the compere without compare ,“Jerry St Clair” in the hit TV series “Phoenix Nights”
His writing credits are impressive and he was awarded The British Comedy Award for Best New TV Comedy for “That Peter Kay Thing” which he co-wrote with Peter Kay. Their credits also include “The Services” and “Phoenix Nights”.
He also
wrote Dead Man Weds in which he starred with Johnny Vegas and is team captain on
Eight Out Of Ten Cats.

Phoenix
Nights on DVD

Some comedies secure cult status
after just one episode. The first series of Phoenix Nights with Bolton-born comic Peter
Kay and Dave Spikey is one of those rare gems that few saw
on first showing but that everyone was soon talking about. Wheelchair-bound
Brian Potter (Kay) runs the Phoenix, a shabby social club populated by an
assortment of wonderfully observed characters. It's grim up North and despite
the best efforts of the staff to inject life into the proceedings--be it an
alternative comedy night, a version of Robot Wars in Potter's beloved Pennine
Suite or a Wild West extravaganza--each evening's entertainment always ends
badly. Undaunted, the Phoenix denizens continue to strive for their dream: a
world in which "clubland never dies".
On the DVD: Phoenix
Nights on disc comes with a plethora of extras to enjoy. "One Man and
His Horse" is behind the scenes footage of Trigger and his handler (who is
almost as entertaining as his charge); there are some great deleted scenes,
trailers for the first series and an episode-by-episode sequence of outtakes
where the cast hilarity is definitely contagious. A commentary from Kay and some
of the team consists more of reminiscence than information, but is well worth a
listen.
