James Caan

 



James Caan has been creating, building and selling businesses for over 20 years. In 1985, he set up the Alexander Mann Group, one of the UK's leading HR outsourcing companies, and achieved a turnover of £130 million before selling it to a private equity firm in 2002.

He also co-founded an executive headhunting firm with partner Doug Bougie, which they successfully expanded globally through its Humana International brand, growing to over 147 offices across 30 countries before it was bought by a New York-listed company.

A graduate of Harvard Business School's prestigious Advanced Management Programme, in 2003 Caan was named PricewaterhouseCoopers' Entrepreneur of the Year.

In 2001 he won the Enterprise of the Year Award for his outstanding business success and was recently a Resident Entrepreneur Mentor for MBA students at London Business School.

* CEO of private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw, which James founded in 2004
* 2007, became the new dragon on the BBC's Dragon's Den
* 2005, named as one of the 100 most influential Asian people in the UK by Asian Power 100 (Institute of Asian Professionals)
* Graduate of Harvard Business School's prestigious Advanced Management Program (AMP), where James spent a well-earned 'gap year' in 2002 after selling
the Alexander Mann Group
* 2003, PriceWaterhouseCooper 'Entrepreneur of the Year' award
* 1985 -2002, headed the Alexander Mann Group, which he set up as an executive head-hunting company and which became one of the UK's leading
recruitment companies. James sold the company in 2002

Charity

* Recently put together a successful business plan which helped Save the Children raise £3m
* Philanthropic projects overseas include the building of the Abdul Rashid Khan school in Lahore, Pakistan, to educate children from deprived backgrounds.
James built the campus in memory of his late father
* James has also been a key fund-raiser for the NSPCC's 'Full Stop' campaign as well as chairman of Educare, the UK fund-raising arm of the CARE charity in
Pakistan which runs schools educating 100,000 children

Family and Interests

* Lives in London and also has homes in the South of France and Lahore, Pakistan
