Boxing after dinner speaker from Scotland

Jim Watt is the former world boxing champion who made his presence felt in the international boxing ring and is now doing the same on the after-dinner circuit.

Now a top ITV boxing pundit and a familiar face on the television screen, Jim came to the fore in the 70’s when he fought his way to become British Lightweight champion.

He followed this by achieving the European Lightweight Championship - undefeated between 1977 and 1979 and finally topped a glittering career by winning the World Lightweight title in 1979 by beating Alfredo Pitavla.

He successfully defended the title four times before losing to the legendary Alexes Arguelo.

He holds the record for most successful defences of a world title by a British boxer.

As a tribute to his services to the sport, he was awarded the MBE.
