JOHN STALKER
John Stalker was a bobby on the beat in Manchester before transferring to the CID and quickly rising to the rank of Detective Superintendent. He was in the Serious Crime Squad, the Bomb Squad and the Drugs Squad. In 1978, he was made head of Warwickshire CID - at 38, the country's youngest Detective Chief Superintendent and later became Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police: the biggest provincial police force in the country with over 10,000 staff covering a population of three million. He travelled round the world studying terrorism and crime and on his return worked for 2 years in Northern Ireland. He now writes regularly for several newspapers including the Sunday Times, Sunday Express, the Observer and the Daily Telegraph. His book STALKER topped the best sellers for many weeks with world-wide sales of over 400,000. He has presented Crimestalker for Central Television and Inside Crime for Carlton TV. He now regularly presents seminars, motivational presentations, conferences and product launches for large companies and is a popular after dinner speaker. John is also a qualified athletics coach and an accomplished jazz drummer. He lives on a farm in Cheshire and is busy preparing his next book. |
