Penny understands that the main opposition people face in fulfilling their potential is themselves.
Penny spent her early years feeling like an outsider who wasn’t comfortable in her own skin. She ran away from home at 14 and lived a hand to mouth existence on the streets and in hostels in London from the age of 16. She was a tearaway, a self-destructive teenager heading nowhere.
Life could have taken many paths for Penny, but several life changing events, against all the odds, sent her the 'right ' way. She set out to prove herself and to show the world she was worthy of both love and success. If she could do it, anyone could.
Penny had always dreamt of being a rally driver…. Was told over and over she couldn’t make it, and did.
She has a natural ability to communicate and has a passion for helping others overcome whatever obstacles they may have. Her unique and inspirational story shows that there is no limit to what you can achieve with will power and commitment!

Penny became The National Ladies' Champion Rally Driver in 1993 and went on to be one of the World's top rally drivers and team captains.
As the face of satellite TVs most popular motoring programme,’ The Used Car Roadshow’, Penny Mallory is one
of a very rare breed of highly respected female motoring journalists and experts in the UK.
This is only the latest in a long and established media career that includes Channel 4’s highly successful series, ‘Driven’, the World Rally Championships and ‘Accident Blackspots’, Discovery Channel ‘Classic Car Club’ and live reports for GMTV. She also narrated the ‘Conquest of Everest’, 50th Anniversary DVD as the descendant of the legendary mountaineer, George Mallory.
Penny’s passion for all things automotive started when she experienced a rally driving day and got hooked. After just three months of learning how to drive a rally car, she’d put together a two-year sponsorship deal and in 1993 became the National Ladies Champion. She went on to become the first woman in the world to drive a World Rally Car (the Formula One of rallying).
Penny finds inspiring people to get the best out of life very rewarding and is highly sought after as a motivational speaker and in the corporate training field. No stranger to adversity herself, she ran away from home to London at just fourteen years old Her unique and inspirational story shows there is no limit to what you can achieve with will power and commitment.
Penny is the motoring expert for Heyday; a web based advisory service, she has written for Mother and Baby Magazine, BMW Magazine and was part of the Woman’s Own Hit Squad.
Her guest features include writing and presenting her own strand 'Dashboard Divas' for This Morning (ITV). ‘Watch Dog’ BBC, Britain’s Worst Roads’ BBC and a thirteen part series for BBC UK Style 'Can Ski Will Ski', her own consumer series ‘Top Dog’ and presenting the flag ship live series, ‘Men and Motors Live’ both on Granada.
She is an ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and also an
Ambassador for Investors in People.

Although Penny is an expert on cars and is passionate about all aspects of motorsport and engineering, she has trained in design and social work too. Working for some years as a graphic designer in advertising and as a sound engineer in a recording studio, areas of interest also cover furniture renovation, painting, DIY - in fact anything that is creative and practical.
Part of Penny's character was no doubt shaped during her early teens, when she ran away from home and lived in hostels around London. Her sheer determination to survive on her own terms and her will to succeed at what ever she puts her mind to have enabled her to motivate and inspire others, both in business and socially.
Penny is the first woman in the world to qualify to drive a World Rally car. She raced a Ford Focus in her first rally in five years, the Rally of Great Britain- the last round of the World Championships. She was the first woman over the finishing line and won the Ladies' and Journalists' Trophies.
