SHAMI AHMED
In 1964 Nizam Ahmed, an Aeronautical Engineer was transferred from Karachi, Pakistan to England with his wife and two young children Shami and Bushra.
Nizam set up a market stall marking the beginning of the Ahmed Fashion Empire.
Within five years Nizam opened his first retail outlet, Ahmed Hosiery, in Burnley. Not happy with retail, his son Shami pushed his father to explore the wholesale industry; they were a dynamic team. While Nizam and Shami developed their plans for wholesale, Shami's mother and sisters ran the retail stores. In 1980 Pennywise Cash and Carry was established based in Bury New Road, Manchester where it still operates from today under the name of 'The Juice Corporation'.
In the 1980s Manchester was on the upswing as the north's foremost centre for youth, fashion and street culture.
With the support and encouragement of his father, Shami Ahmed capitalised on the upbeat mood and the dynamic dance scene blossoming in his hometown to launch The Legendary Joe Bloggs Clothing Company.
He was just 24 years old when he launched Bloggs and the first person to take a British company into the UK.'s top ten jeans brands. In the face of global competition Shami made his mark and his first million before he was 25 years old.
Established in 1985, Joe Bloggs has transcended the 80s and 90s entering the new millennium with a fresh direction. For such a young company, Bloggs has a phenomenal heritage having pioneered trends and discovered rising stars that became icons of the decade and even era.
